Watch assembled in France: what it really changes
More and more brands claim French manufacturing. But what does that concretely mean in the watchmaking sector? And why at A★Star, are we so keen on assembling our watches in France?
What "assembled in France" means
Assembling a watch in France means carrying out the operations on French soil that transform components into a finished and functional watch: fitting the movement into the case, attaching the dial, mounting the hands, closing the back, adjusting the strap, quality control.
It is not the same as "made in France" — where each component would also be produced locally — but it is a step that involves real know-how, attention to detail, and direct responsibility for the final quality of the product.
Why local assembly makes a real difference
- Piece-by-piece quality control: Each watch is individually assembled and checked. No assembly line production, no unchecked batches.
- Responsiveness in case of problems: If a defect is detected, it is corrected immediately. No delays linked to a supplier on the other side of the world.
- Complete traceability: We know exactly where each component comes from and under what conditions the watch was assembled.
- A commitment to the customer: Assembling in France means fully assuming responsibility for the final product.
The A★Star assembly process
Each A★Star watch goes through the following steps before being shipped:
- Reception and inspection of components
- Assembly of the NH35 movement into the Constellation case
- Attachment of the aventurine dial and hands
- Closing and screwing of the sapphire case back
- Timegrapher test — verification of movement precision
- Water resistance test at 5 ATM for 48 hours
- Strap assembly and final visual inspection
- Packaging and shipping
A choice of values, not just a marketing argument
At A★Star, assembling in France is not an empty sales pitch. It is a conviction: we only sell what we have made ourselves, what we have held in our hands, what we can guarantee. Every watch that leaves our premises has been checked by us. It's as simple as that.
